About Remedy Robotics
Cardiovascular disease is the #1 cause of morbidity and mortality in the world. Much of this could be prevented with better access to specialist care. Take stroke as an example: any delay in treatment can lead to permanent disability or death. However, due to a lack of specialist surgeons, the most effective intervention can only be performed in 2% of US hospitals. For patients who present to one of the 98% of hospitals that do not offer the surgery, treatment is either significantly delayed or not offered at all because timely transfer is not feasible.
Our mission is to bring state-of-the-art vascular intervention to anyone, anytime, regardless of their location. Our team of medical clinicians, roboticists, and machine learning experts are working to bridge this gap by building the world’s first remotely-operated, semi-autonomous endovascular surgical robot.
We’ve already done what nobody else could—using our system, doctors from around the world were able to remotely perform this procedure from as far as 8000 miles away. We now need your help to bring this technology out of the laboratory and into hospitals everywhere.
The Role
You'll own the design of the surgical UI that doctors use to drive our robot. This is a 60% design, 40% engineering role — designer first, builder second. You'll work directly with clinicians to shape what the interface should look and feel like, design it in Figma, and then ship it in production code yourself. The UI is dense, real-time, and high-stakes. Precision and clarity matter more than polish for polish's sake.
We're explicitly looking for someone with strong design taste and a portfolio to show for it. Engineering depth matters — you need to be able to ship your own designs — but we are not looking for someone whose strongest signal is the architecture of a complex app.
You Will
Own the design of the surgical UI end-to-end — from Figma exploration to shipped code
Build and refine the robot tablet interface used during procedures
Build and maintain a design system that holds up across multiple surfaces
Contribute to product appearance decisions across software
Drive UI V&V test definition with the quality team
You Have
5+ years designing and shipping production interfaces — preferably as a designer who codes (or an engineer who is genuinely a designer)
A portfolio of design work you're proud of and willing to walk through in depth
Strong visual design fundamentals — you can defend layout, typography, color, and hierarchy choices on their merits
Deep Figma fluency — auto-layout, variables, components, prototyping are second nature
Enough frontend chops to ship your own designs (TypeScript, React, or equivalents)
Comfort owning the design and the code, going from rough sketch to shipped pixel
Strong communication, especially with non-designers and non-engineers (clinicians, surgeons, design partners)
Nice to Haves
Experience designing for dense, professional, high-stakes interfaces (medical, scientific instruments, CAD, DAWs, trading platforms, flight systems)
Fluency with other design or prototyping tools (Rive, Origami, Framer, ProtoPie)
Motion and animation design experience
Real-time data visualization (WebGL, Canvas, custom renderers)
3D rendering experience (Three.js or similar)
Experience building or contributing to a design system
Prior medical device experience (especially anything that's been through V&V or usability testing)
