Are you the kind of engineer who can't stand doing the same thing twice – who sees a repetitive process and immediately wants to automate it away? Morse Micro is looking for an IT Automation & Service Delivery Engineer to take ownership of how our IT function delivers, and to make it run faster, smoother, and smarter. This isn't a ticket-grinding role: it's about engineering better workflows, automating the repetitive, and raising the bar on how a fast-growing semiconductor company runs its IT. If you like solving problems once and for all rather than over and over, this is for you!
Based on-site at our Surry Hills (Sydney) headquarters, you'll own IT service delivery end-to-end and drive the automation and efficiency projects that lift the whole team – working closely with the Information Technology Manager and the team.
Your Main Responsibilities Will Include
Morse Micro is Australia's largest semiconductor company building Wi-Fi HaLow (802.11ah) chips for the Internet of Things (IoT). We are a team of wireless experts that love to work hard, innovate & invent. Together, we are building the world's lowest power Wi-Fi technology that will enable billions of IoT devices to connect securely to the internet. We are a global team with offices in Sydney, Picton & Melbourne (Australia), Irvine & San Jose (USA), Bangalore (India), Cambridge (UK), Hangzhou & Shenzen (China), Taipei (Taiwan) and Tokyo (Japan).
Based on-site at our Surry Hills (Sydney) headquarters, you'll own IT service delivery end-to-end and drive the automation and efficiency projects that lift the whole team – working closely with the Information Technology Manager and the team.
Your Main Responsibilities Will Include
- Owning IT service delivery end-to-end – designing triage and workflows, setting and meeting service standards, and being accountable for keeping our request queue healthy and under control
- Driving automation and efficiency across IT operations – identifying repetitive, manual work and engineering it away through scripting, tooling, and AI-assisted workflows
- Leading "deliver better and faster" projects: streamlining onboarding/offboarding, self-service, monitoring, and the processes that consume the team's time
- Building and maintaining automations and integrations across our IT and SaaS stack (identity, SSO, device management, ticketing) to reduce toil for the whole team
- Supporting and helping maintain our network and infrastructure across HQ and remote sites, hands-on at the local level
- Administering systems across a multi-OS environment (Windows, macOS, and Linux), with confidence working in Linux
- Partnering with the IT Manager on technology decisions and continuous improvement, and helping lift the capability and tooling of the wider team
- Providing hands-on technical support across the full stack (Level 1 to Level 4), helping people on the ground at HQ and supporting remote sites – happy to jump on the everyday requests and the role of resolving the toughest, deepest issues the rest of the team escalates
- Supporting our security and compliance posture (ISO 27001-aligned practices, privileged access, identity and SSO) as part of day-to-day operations
- Maintaining clear documentation, runbooks, and knowledge so improvements stick and the team can scale
- Proven experience in IT operations, systems, or infrastructure engineering, with a track record of owning and improving how IT is delivered
- A genuine automation mindset – you reach for scripting and tooling to eliminate repetitive work, and you measure and improve how things run
- Solid multi-OS administration skills across Windows, macOS, and Linux, with real Linux depth
- Strong networking fundamentals – routing, switching, firewalls, VLANs, Wi-Fi, and multi-site connectivity – and the ability to support local infrastructure hands-on
- Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS (Networking, Lambda, IAM, core services)
- Experience with identity and access management and SSO platforms (JumpCloud, or equivalent such as Okta / Entra ID)
- A true ownership mindset – you take problems to closure and operate autonomously without needing to be directed
- An A-player who is also a team player: high personal standards, strong communication, and the instinct to make the whole team better rather than work in isolation
- Based in Sydney and able to work on-site at our Surry Hills HQ
- Strong scripting ability (e.g. Python, PowerShell, Bash) is a plus and comfort building workflows and integrations between systems
- Exposure to security and compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001) is a plus
- Experience with HPC environments (e.g. Slurm, AWS PCS) is a plus
- Experience applying AI tooling to automate and accelerate IT work is a plus
- Competitive salary and stock option package
- Access to cutting-edge AI tools to do your best work and stay at the front of the field
- 10 days work remote from anywhere in the world
- Opportunity to work at a cutting-edge startup company
- Chance to make a significant impact on the future of wireless technology
- Collaborative and supportive work environment
