Engineering Manager — Device Verification & Test
Morse Micro
Software Engineering, Other Engineering
Sydney, NSW, Australia
Posted on May 21, 2026
Morse Micro is at the forefront of next-generation Wi-Fi technology, delivering breakthrough solutions that redefine wireless connectivity. Our innovative products are designed to meet the demands of the rapidly evolving market, providing superior performance and reliability.
About The Role
Based in Sydney and reporting to senior engineering leadership, you will lead our Device Verification & Test team. This team characterises and qualifies Morse Micro’s Wi-Fi HaLow silicon, modules, and reference designs across RF performance, throughput-vs-range, power consumption, sleep behaviour, interference resilience, and stability across voltage and temperature corners.
This is a hands-on engineering leadership role. You will set the DVT roadmap, guide technical execution, and ensure the team’s data supports datasheets, production screening limits, customer commitments, and product release decisions. You will work closely with Hardware, Systems, Software, Software Validation, Product Engineering, and Operations to keep validation aligned with chip programs, module releases, and software release cadences.
You will also own the bridge from characterisation to production test, leading our ATE test development program and supporting load board qualification, NPI handoff, and high-volume manufacturing readiness.
We are also looking for someone excited about using AI tooling pragmatically to improve validation productivity across test automation, data analysis, anomaly detection, and report generation.
Key Responsibilities
Morse Micro is Australia’s largest semiconductor company building Wi-Fi HaLow (802.11ah) chips for the Internet of Things (IoT). We are a team of wireless experts that love to work hard, innovate, and invent. Together, we are building the world’s lowest power Wi-Fi technology that will enable billions of IoT devices to connect securely to the internet. We are a global team with offices in Sydney, Picton & Melbourne (Australia), Irvine, Bay Area & Boston (USA), Bangalore (India), Cambridge (UK), Hangzhou (China), Taipei (Taiwan) and Tokyo (Japan).

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the DVT team and own its roadmap, aligning priorities with silicon programs, module releases, reference designs, and software release cadences.
- Drive characterisation and qualification of new silicon, modules, and reference designs after hardware bring-up, including RF, throughput, power, sleep, interference, and stability testing.
- Establish sample coverage, characterise spread, set datasheet and production-screening limits, and provide clear recommendations for release decisions.
- Maintain device-level regression coverage so firmware, driver, hardware, and configuration changes do not silently shift RF performance, power consumption, or link behaviour.
- Partner with Hardware, Systems, Software, Software Validation, Product Engineering, and Operations on product validation, release readiness, and NPI execution.
- Oversee ATE test development for RF SoCs, including test program development, load board qualification, correlation, and production handoff.
- Improve validation throughput using automation, CI, dashboards, structured data stores, and AI-assisted analysis and reporting.
- Maintain and evolve the team’s test infrastructure, including LitePoint-based RF setups, lab automation, Jenkins CI, DVT dashboards, and test data pipelines.
- Support failure analysis on customer returns and feed findings back into design, validation, and production test flows.
- Set priorities, manage workload, and communicate outcomes, risks, and recommendations clearly to engineering leadership.
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years in semiconductor, RF, wireless, or connected-product validation, including 3+ years leading an engineering team.
- Strong grounding in RF and wireless test fundamentals, including Tx/Rx characterisation, EVM, sensitivity, current consumption, interference testing, and over-the-air measurements.
- Hands-on RF hardware experience, including RF circuit fundamentals, matching networks, antenna integration, and interpreting how design choices appear in measured results.
- Demonstrated experience validating complex wireless products through characterisation, qualification, and release.
- Experience with lab equipment such as LitePoint, spectrum analysers, signal generators, VNAs, power meters, and automated test setups.
- Strong Python test automation experience.
- Track record scaling validation automation using CI, Jenkins or equivalent infrastructure, data pipelines, dashboards, and structured reporting.
- Proven ability to work across Hardware, Systems, Software, Software Validation, Product Engineering, and Operations to drive validation outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to frame tests clearly, explain trade-offs, and present recommendations to engineering leadership.
- Interest in applying AI tooling to test automation, data analysis, anomaly detection, and reporting.
- Background in Wi-Fi or related wireless standards.
- ATE test program development for RF ICs (Teradyne UltraFLEX or similar).
- Experience designing or reviewing RF load boards.
- Familiarity with IC production test flows and the NPI process.
- High-volume production testing, yield analysis, and characterisation reporting.
- Data analysis tools — Python, JMP, or equivalent.
- Experience with relational data stores (e.g. MySQL) for managing test data at scale.
- Competitive salary + excellent stock option package
- Performance bonus opportunity
- Income protection insurance
- Healthy work environment with sit/stand desks and large screens
- Lots of snacks & drinks, including barista coffee, Friday team lunches & some of the world’s best beers
- Flexible working hours
- Work from home policy
- Community & social groups and much more
- Join a high performing, inclusive company where you can make a real impact
