While we support flexible, remote-friendly ways of working, for this role we’re focusing on Sydney so we can best support our teams and keep collaboration flowing.
This role is a 3.5 month engagement, working full-time hours per week.
Targeted start date for this role is the start of January 2026.
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
We are seeking an innovative and resourceful Social Content Creator and Videographer to lead the creation of engaging and culturally relevant social content for Canva's biggest global campaigns and brand moments. In this role, you will ideate, script, film, edit, and deliver content that amplifies major events like Canva Create and Canva World Tour—all with a social-first mindset that captures attention and drives engagement.
This role requires a deep understanding of TikTok, Instagram, and other social platforms, current social trends, and the ability to create content that feels authentic to each platform while maintaining campaign cohesion. You'll work across every stage of content creation, from brainstorming to post-production, and bring ideas to life with speed and quality. You'll also capture behind-the-scenes moments, creator stories, and event content that brings our campaigns to life in real-time.
At the moment this role is focussed on:
- Creating engaging social content for Canva's biggest campaigns Turn campaign ideas into scroll-stopping content. Develop and produce social-first content for global campaigns like Canva Create, Canva World Tour, and other major brand moments, ensuring it's on-brand, culturally relevant, and impactful.
- Amplifying campaign narratives through social storytelling Translate big campaign ideas into platform-native social content that captures attention and drives engagement. Create content that extends campaign reach beyond traditional channels and makes our biggest moments feel accessible and shareable.
- Capturing real-time event and campaign content Film behind-the-scenes moments, creator stories, product demos, and event content during major activations like Canva Create and World Tour. React quickly to capture authentic, in-the-moment content that brings campaigns to life on social.
- Connecting campaigns to culture and trends Monitor and identify cultural and platform-specific trends, ensuring Canva's campaign content remains relevant and resonates with audiences. Link trending moments back to campaign themes and Canva's product, creating content that feels timely and culturally connected.
- End-to-end content creation Independently manage projects from ideation to execution. Rapidly produce content that aligns with campaign timelines and maintains high quality. Script, film, and edit videos designed to hook viewers within the first few seconds and retain engagement throughout.
- Operating camera and editing tools Use mobile devices, cameras, and editing apps to create visually compelling content tailored to social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X. Manage exposure, lighting, sound, and production setups (including on-location and event filming) to produce professional-quality videos. Apply color grading, sound mixing, and editing techniques for polished, final content.
- Collaborating and build relationships Work closely with Canva's Global Campaign Creative team, Social team, and campaign stakeholders to foster collaboration and alignment at every stage of content development. Be a reliable and adaptable partner who can take on feedback and iterate quickly, especially under tight campaign deadlines.
- On-camera presence Be comfortable stepping in as the on-camera personality for Canva's social content when needed, bringing an authentic and relatable energy to the brand during major campaign moments.
You're probably a match if
- You have proven experience: 3 years plus of proven experience as a Social Content Creator and Videographer, ideally working on campaigns, events, or in high-growth environments where change is constant . You have an outstanding portfolio that showcases your flair for storytelling, campaign content, and social-first video.
- You live and breathe social content: Understanding trends and insights across culture and are able to bring them to life through short-form video content. Great taste, with deep knowledge and interest in the latest social trends and best practices across platforms.
- Campaign experience: Experience creating content for large-scale campaigns, product launches, or brand events. You understand how to create social content that ladders up to bigger campaign narratives while still feeling native to each platform.
- Event and real-time content creation: Comfortable filming in dynamic, fast-paced environments like conferences, events, and activations. You can capture compelling content on the fly and turn it around quickly for social platforms.
- Strategic thinker: Strong strategic mindset with the ability to translate Canva's campaign goals and brand values into engaging social-first content that drives awareness and excitement.
- Exceptional visual communicator: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate creative concepts clearly to diverse audiences and stakeholders. You brainstorm concepts, give and receive constructive feedback, and can clearly articulate how creative work can be improved.
- A bias for action: You're happy to roll up your sleeves and muck in. No task is too small (or big!) if it helps the team around you to be more effective, and rallies them to achieve campaign goals faster. Proven track record of identifying challenges, developing effective solutions, and implementing process improvements.
- Comfortable with chaos: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, especially during high-pressure campaign launches and events. You can adapt to changing priorities and business needs. You can find solutions even without perfect precedents or direction, and map out a path to clarity and execution. You can work out ways to achieve the impossible and ride through change like a boss.
