The Role
At Vessev, we’re defining a new category of marine transport: hydrofoiling electric vessels that are genuinely better for people and the planet. To make this possible, we depend on cutting-edge materials, precision engineering, and a talented build team with deep expertise in composites.
We’re looking for two Senior Composite Boat Builders to join our team. It's a hands-on role where you’ll work on the fabrication and assembly of high-performance composite structures that form the backbone of our vessels. You’ll bring proven experience in composite part fabrication and assembly, contributing directly to the quality and safety of every boat we launch.
What you’ll work on
As a Senior Composite Boat Builder at Vessev, you’ll be trusted with the end-to-end execution and continuous improvement of critical build processes, including:
Advanced composite fabrication – Lead the creation of complex components using resin infusion and pre-preg fabrication methods, ensuring dimensional accuracy and structural integrity.
Vessel structural assembly – Lead locating, fitting, bonding, taping, and finishing operations of composite structures while maintaining rigorous quality and alignment with engineering specifications.
Process optimisation – Collaborate with engineering and production teams to refine build methods, materials use, and workflow efficiency.
Quality assurance – Define and uphold inspection standards, ensuring every part meets Vessev’s high expectations for performance and finish.
Team development & mentorship – Support and up-skill junior builders through coaching, technical guidance, and shared problem-solving.
Workplace Excellence – Promote a culture of safety, organisation, and professionalism throughout the workshop.
Essential skills
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
Expert Composite Knowledge – Deep practical experience with resin infusion, structural bonding, and composite assembly, with a clear understanding of advanced materials and processes.
Technical Precision – Strong ability to interpret and execute build documentation, CAD drawings, and engineering instructions.
Leadership & Initiative – A proactive approach to ownership, capable of independently driving build quality, solving problems, and improving processes.
Attention to detail: Commitment to precision and high standards of workmanship in every stage of the build process.
Team mindset: Works seamlessly with others to achieve shared goals, while taking ownership and pride in delivering high-quality personal contributions.
Adaptability: Resourceful and calm under pressure, able to adjust to changing priorities in a fast-paced build environment.
Workmanship pride: Dedicated to maintaining clean, safe, and professional workshop practices, reflecting pride in both process and outcome.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
10+ years’ experience in composite boat building or advanced composite manufacturing.
Proven expertise in resin infusion and structural assembly of large composite parts.
Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor others in workshop environments.
Strong practical understanding of composite tooling, consumables, and safe workshop practices.
Proficient use of hand tools and precision instruments.
Bonus experience
Formal qualification in boat building, marine composites, or related fields.
Previous work in a startup, technology, or advanced manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of health & safety standards specific to composites and workshop operations.
Passion for marine technology.
Why this role matters
This is a rare chance to directly shape the future of maritime transport.
At Vessev, every detail matters. From the precision of an infusion to the strength of a bond, your contribution is critical to the success of each vessel. By applying your skills with care and consistency, you’ll enable the wider team to push the boundaries of marine technology, knowing that the foundations of our craft are in the best possible hands.
