Coherence Neuro is a highly interdisciplinary neurotechnology company solving some of the most challenging biological and medical problems that remain unmet. Our goal is to develop technologies that significantly increase the quality and length of life for those with debilitating and deadly cancers in the brain and body. We are backed by the best global venture capital firms, and are scaling our team across multiple sites to bring our products to those who need it as quickly and safely as possible. If you're driven to push the boundaries of engineering and science and want to help build something that genuinely changes lives, we want to hear from you. We value diversity and encourage applicants from all backgrounds to join us in our mission. Learn about our team here!
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the implant engineering team and help design, build, test and integrate the implant electronics of SOMA, our fully implantable therapeutic brain stimulation system, at our San Francisco office.
This is a hands-on development role across the implant's electrical subsystems. You will own defined circuit and subsystem development tasks, from schematic design and component selection through prototyping, testing and debugging, and build the prototype hardware, PCBs and electrical interfaces the team needs to iterate on and integrate designs. Working closely with, and mentored by, our Senior EEs, you will take on larger circuits and subsystems as your experience grows. The ideal candidate is a hands-on electrical engineer who can design a board in Altium, bring it up and characterize it at the bench, automate measurements in Python, and think critically about whether a measured result makes logical sense.

Key Responsibilities

Own defined circuit and subsystem development tasks: schematic design, component selection, prototyping, testing and debugging.
Support development and integration across multiple implant electrical subsystems, taking on increasing ownership as your experience grows.
Plan and run bench testing and characterization of circuits and subsystems, automating instrument control, data acquisition and analysis so results are quick to turn around and reproducible.
Design, lay out in Altium and bring up prototype and development hardware, including PCBs and the electrical interfaces needed to support design iteration and integration.
Document designs, test protocols and results clearly so they support design verification and hand-off to the test team.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline.
Around 2+ years of industry (or equivalent research lab) experience designing, building and debugging electronic circuits and hardware, independently leading your own workstreams.
Python scripting for instrument control (e.g. PyVISA), data acquisition and analysis.
Hands-on bench experience with oscilloscopes, power supplies, DAQ hardware and other lab instruments for bring-up and characterization.
