We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Experimental Neuroscientist intern who will join our team for a 3-month period and who is currently working on their PhD in Neuroscience, Cancer Biology, or a similar field. This person will be based within the preclinical team and will work closely with our wider research and development team to perform in vivo and in vitro neuroscience experiments, including rodent stereotaxic surgeries, in vivo electrophysiology recordings, neuromodulation, and cell culturing.
Key Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with a diverse team of neuroscientists, cancer biologists, data scientists, and electrical engineers to perform in vivo and in vitro neuroscience / cancer biology experiments.
Perform in vivo electrophysiology recording and neuromodulation experiments in rodents.
Document data collection and processing pipelines and generate clear, reproducible analysis reports for internal stakeholders.
Work closely alongside other data scientists and neuroscientists to gain insights into neural biomarkers of disease and therapeutic intervention.
Participate in regular meetings and discussions with the team to share progress and insights.
Stay up to date with industry advancements and contribute to the brainstorming of new ideas and improvements.
Conduct in vitro and in vivo drug screening and therapeutic assessment including the use and handling of chemotherapeutics.
Histological processing, including slicing, staining and analyzing data.
Required Qualifications and Skills
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Neuroscience, Computational Neuroscience, Cancer Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
Currently working towards a PhD in Neuroscience, Computational Neuroscience, Cancer Biology or a related field.
Extremely proficient in in vivo neuroscience techniques, including stereotaxic surgeries, chronic in vivo electrophysiology (single unit or LFP), in vivo imaging (calcium or voltage imaging).
Demonstrated experience working with rodent handling and drug administration (IP, SC, oral gavage).
Demonstrated experience collecting and working with raw electrophysiological signals.
Demonstrated ability of adhering to surgical protocols and documentation.
Experience with a range of histology techniques, including staining and IHC.
Proficient oral, communication, and organizational skills and can work collaboratively within a close team setting.
Bonus Skills
Experience with in vivo tumor models.
Experience with other neurological in vivo models.
Familiarity with optogenetics or neuromodulation techniques.
Demonstrated experience working with cell cultures and aseptic technique.
Familiarity with rodent behavioral assessments.
Background in translational research and industry collaborations.
Reporting Structure:
This role is an integral part of the pre-clinical team and reports directly to the Lead Scientist.
