We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Neural Data Science intern who will join our team for a 3-month period with a background in Neuroscience, Computational Neuroscience, Computational Biology (or a similar field). This person will be based within the data science team and will work closely with our wider research and development team to analyze and interpret large neural datasets using various signal processing, machine learning, and computational tools in Python.
Key Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with a diverse team of data scientists, electrical engineers, and neuroscientists to analyze neural data and develop data analysis and machine learning pipelines.
Build, implement, test, and streamline data analysis pipelines in Python.
Document data processing pipelines and generate clear, reproducible analysis reports for internal stakeholders.
Work closely alongside other data scientists and neuroscientists to gain insights into neural biomarkers of disease and therapeutic intervention.
Participate in regular meetings and discussions with the team to share progress and insights.
Stay up to date with industry advancements and contribute to the brainstorming of new ideas and improvements.
Required Qualifications and Skills
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field.
Currently working towards a PhD in Neuroscience, Computational Neuroscience, or a related field.
Extremely proficient programming skills in Python.
Demonstrated extensive experience working with Numpy, Scipy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib, and Tensorflow/Pytorch.
Demonstrated experience working with and analysing raw electrophysiological signals.
Demonstrated experience working with standard machine learning methods (including classification, dimensionality reduction, and clustering).
Experience working with transcriptomics or genomics data.
Demonstrated ability of working with git version control.
Proficient oral, communication, and organizational skills and can work collaboratively within a close team setting.
Bonus Skills
Experience working with advanced machine learning methods.
Industry experience as a software engineer, data scientist, or machine learning scientist.
Knowledge of electrophysiology systems/electronics.
Experience working with neural interfaces.
Reporting Structure:
This role is an integral part of the Data Science team and reports directly to the Data Science Lead.
