Founders Associate
Multitudes
About Multitudes
Kia ora! I’m Lauren, the founder of Multitudes, and I’m jumping in to write this job description because this role is near and dear to me – you’ll get to work closely with me and also with Vivek, who runs our data & AI work and is a founding team member of Multitudes.
What do we do at Multitudes? We’re on a mission to make tech equitable and inclusive. Our AI-enabled product helps teams improve performance by supporting people: We take data that teams already have and turn it into action – by catching where the work is blocked, who’s not getting as much feedback, and who might be at risk of burnout, and then nudging the teams to take action.
Our commitment to being human-centered goes beyond our product. We conduct academic research on engineering effectiveness, from agile retro practices to AI's impact on developer productivity, and we apply the same rigour to how we operate. Our data ethics principles are just one example of how we embed our values into our product!
Our customers also represent the best software engineering teams in the world – from Weights and Biases in the US, to Clara in Latin America, Eucalyptus in Australia, and more. These great teams come to us to improve, so we hold ourselves to a high bar for both our equitable practices and team performance.
We’ve raised more than $4M in funding and have incredible supporters, including Blackbird Ventures, Ellen Pao (of Reddit, Project Include), Jon Williams and Doug English (co-founders of Culture Amp), Vaughan Fergusson (founder of Vend, now Lightspeed), and more.
About the opportunity: Founders Associate
We’ve called this role Founders Associate because you’ll be an extension of our founding team. You’ll work closely with me, the CEO & founder of Multitudes, and Dr. Vivek Katial, our Lead Data Scientist and a founding team member.
This is a role where you’ll be directly involved in revenue generation and excited about all aspects of company-building, from analyzing data for customer insights to executing our GTM strategy. You’ll bring your own strategic thinking to helping us improve how we support our customers and how we reach new ones. You’re also someone who can juggle multiple balls and who has the judgement to know which balls can’t be dropped and which ones can bounce. You love a challenge and you thrive when you’re working in a supportive team.
On that note, in addition to working closely with me and Vivek, you’ll also collaborate with our Engineering team (Josh, Kevin and Nick) and with Laura (product design) and Jenny (data).
Ultimately, you're the person who makes sure important work doesn't fall through the cracks.
We’re a fast-moving team so every week is different, but your role will include:
Storytelling with data
- Support our thought leadership by analyzing our data to find new stories to share with our customers and sales leads
- Help us stay on top of the latest research and trends, synthesizing what’s most relevant for our audience of engineering leaders
Go-to-market (GTM)
- Drive revenue growth and customer acquisition through global roadshows, marketing campaigns, and product launches to reach new customers.
- Measure and optimize GTM experiments with data-driven analysis while contributing creative ideas.
Customer love and general support
- Support customers with timely responses to questions (with support from our team!) and maintain updated documentation.
- Drive retention and growth by suggesting product improvements to keep customers happy and expand accounts.
- You’ll also support the team as needed. If you see a problem, you’ll jump in to solve it.
Throughout all the above, you’ll also live our values, which are the foundation of all that we do.
Core Skills
You bring the following skillset:
- You bring a quantitative background whether through academic study or professional experience.
- You're comfortable working with large amounts of data, beyond what Excel can handle.
- Deep customer empathy – You understand that behind every data point is a person, and you're excited to help our customers succeed.
- You have an understanding of (or feel excited to learn about) software engineering practices and developer productivity.
What we provide
- Opportunity to be part of an impact-led, fast-paced startup.
- A close-knit team – pastries and treats in the office are a regular occurrence
- Hybrid work options
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion – both in how we work as a team and in our product development practices.
- $120K total compensation ($105K base salary plus $15.75K equity/year)
- $500 annual Learning and Development budget and access to AI tools to help you succeed (you can even choose which one; we give each person a budget to allocate as they like).
- $1000 one-off allowance for your home office setup.
- Regular in-person team weeks, board games, and more!
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team; we cannot succeed in our mission without it. To that end, people from marginalised groups are particularly encouraged to apply.
Note that this is a full-time role based in Auckland, New Zealand.
