Fibromyalgia Support Coach (Peer Support), Contractor
About More Good Days
More Good Days is an organization dedicated to helping people manage their fibromyalgia through digital pain management programs.
Globally, 1 in 5 people suffer from chronic pain. It is the #1 most common chronic condition and the leading cause of disability worldwide. Despite the growing evidence supporting multidisciplinary and behavioral treatments for chronic pain, high costs and a lack of trained practitioners mean that only 10% of those in need have access to these treatments.
We are a 'for purpose' company composed of clinicians and entrepreneurs who have joined forces to make evidence-based pain management accessible to everyone who needs it.
About the Role:
As a Support Coach (Peer Support Worker) contractor, you will be the primary point of contact for clients, building relationships with them and providing support, accountability, and guidance throughout the program.
We are specifically seeking someone who lives with Fibromyalgia and/or chronic pain and understands this condition through personal experience.
The ideal coach has completed the More Good Days program or undergone a similar journey and can share stories and tips with clients about gradually learning to better manage their symptoms, providing validation and inspiration as these clients work toward the same goal.
Our program is deeply human. We care about the people we serve, but our technology has limitations in conveying this. For many clients, your relationship will be the reason they persist with the program and a primary driver of their overall experience with More Good Days.
You are the face, the relationship, the validation, the personal touch, and the heartfelt truth. Your relationship with our clients is pivotal to their success in learning to improve symptoms and live meaningfully with their pain.
Your responsibilities will include:
You Are Their Coach:
Serving as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring they feel cared for and supported at every stage
Leveraging your deep understanding of our program to build anticipation for upcoming sessions and providing personalized recommendations, helping clients envision their progress and the impact of the program on their lives
Regularly texting and communicating with clients, offering encouragement, support, and validation throughout their journey
Conducting regular video chats or phone calls with clients to check their progress, answer questions, and provide accountability by helping them stay on track and motivated
Guiding clients on managing their symptoms using More Good Days lessons and tools, helping them gain the skills and confidence needed to self-manage their condition
Collaborating with the More Good Days team to ensure clients receive the support and oversight necessary for success in the program, including clinical or medical support when required
You Give Them Hope: Share your own experience with chronic pain and your journey to better manage it as a source of inspiration and hope for clients
You Hold Them Accountable: Follow up with clients, check their progress, help them troubleshoot obstacles, and create plans to get back on track
You Build A Relationship With Them: You are ‘on the journey’ with them. Your relationship will embody this quote: “If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together”. African Proverb – Martha Goedert.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
A deep passion for helping people living with chronic illness and pain reclaim their lives
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, coupled with empathy, compassion, and non-judgment
The ability to hold clients accountable and deliver hard truths in a heartfelt manner, assisting them in overcoming internal blocks or obstacles that may hinder their progress
The ability to quickly master the skills and tools shared in the More Good Days program, and adapt this knowledge to suit each client's learning style
Experience in coaching or counseling individuals on health and wellness issues or in a customer success role is highly desirable
The ability to multitask and remain highly organized while managing relationships with multiple clients
Willingness to learn to use tools such as our SMS platform, video conferencing, practice management software, and Slack for communication with clients
The ability to ramp up to working 3 hours a day. While we welcome and appreciate any additional work you may be able to contribute, our priority is to ensure a supportive and flexible work environment that enables you to prioritise your health.
What we offer
Flexibility: We prioritise your well-being and understand that managing your own fibromyalgia comes first. We are supportive when you need to take time off or change your availability, which is why this is a part time contracting position.
Remote work: Work from anywhere in Australia, from the comfort of your home, during hours that suit you.
Full support: Collaborate closely with the team to receive appropriate training for the role.
Competitive remuneration.
