It's changing lives and transforming an industry. People join Halter to do meaningful work. By joining us you’ll be solving challenging problems within a talented team and a culture built for high performance. Our team out-think, out-work and out-care. About the role

At Halter, we’re changing the way the world farms - and with that comes a great deal of responsibility to the producers worldwide who trust us with their animals. Our hardware fleet operates across farms and ranches globally, and as we scale, we need better systems, better tooling, and smarter workflows to support our farmers faster and more reliably.

We’re looking for a highly motivated Junior Fleet Operations Engineer to join our Fleet Operations team. This role is ideal for someone with a computer science or software-oriented background who enjoys solving real-world problems, building internal tools, and improving how teams operate at scale.

This role sits at the intersection of hardware operations, customer impact, and engineering. You will spend part of your time running the day-to-day work, such as monitoring fleet performance, triaging issues, working tickets, and coordinating resolution. The other part of your time will be dedicated to designing and building internal tooling, dashboards, automations, and process improvements that make the Fleet Operations team more effective and allow us to scale globally.

You will collaborate closely with Fleet Engineers, Product, Deployment, Customer Experience, and Software teams to improve how we detect issues, investigate incidents, drive resolution faster, and more consistently.

What your day could look like

Fleet monitoring and operational support

  • Monitor fleet performance metrics to proactively identify collar and tower issues

  • Investigate and respond to technical support tickets related to collar functionality and tower performance

  • Triage inbound issues, assess severity and impact, and escalate to relevant teams as required

  • Collaborate closely with Tier 1 Support to ensure efficient handover and resolution of technical issues

  • Communicate cross-functionally with Deployment, Product, and Engineering teams to align on incidents, root causes, and follow-ups

  • Contribute to and maintain internal documentation and knowledge bases for known collar and tower issues

Tooling, systems, and scaling improvements

  • Identify opportunities to remove manual work and improve internal workflows across Fleet Operations

  • Build and improve internal tools that support fleet monitoring, investigation, and incident response for a scalable global operating model

  • Improve internal process flows, including triage pathways, escalation rules, investigation checklists, and automation, to reduce time-to-resolution

  • Create systems that help surface issues earlier, such as improved alerting logic, trend analysis, and automated detection of known failure modes

  • Work with engineering teams to integrate tooling with core systems and improve data quality and visibility

Field exposure (optional, as needed)

  • Visit customer farms to work through hardware issues alongside our field-based team where useful

What you will bring

  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent practical experience

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down ambiguous problems and turn them into clear next steps

  • Confidence working with systems and data, including dashboards, tools, workflows, logs, and APIs

  • A builder mindset, with enjoyment in improving internal tools, designing scalable workflows, and making systems easier to operate

  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills with a practical, hands-on approach

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify patterns in data and turn them into action

  • Clear and concise communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise across urgent support needs and longer-term improvement work

  • Comfort operating in fast-paced environments where priorities can shift quickly

  • A passion for supporting farmers and ranchers, and contributing to Halter’s mission to change the way the world farms

Why this role matters

This is a role where you will have a direct impact every day, both by helping solve urgent issues for farmers, and by building the internal systems and tooling that allow Halter’s Fleet Operations team to scale across the globe.

  • Full-time with some rostered on-call
