About the role
Halter is scaling fast in the US, and this role puts you at the commercial heart of it. As our first US-based (Boulder, Colorado) Commercial Business Partner in FP&A, you'll be the finance partner to the sales, marketing and go-to-market teams building Halter's presence across America — the person who turns commercial ambition into numbers the business can actually run on, and who helps the people in the field make sharper decisions about where to spend, where to grow, and what's working.
This is a build role, not a reporting one. You'll own the unit economics that sit at the centre of how we understand the business, stand up regional P&Ls as we enter new markets, and give sales teams the budgets and the visibility they need to win. You are the on the ground expert in commercial business metrics, guiding the team to exceptional performance.
You'll report to our Head of Commercial FP&A and be trusted to operate with real autonomy in a market on the other side of the world from HQ. If you want to own something big, partner closely with the people driving growth, and build the commercial finance foundation of a company on an extremely exciting growth journey - this is it.
You'll be great if you bring
Strong FP&A, commercial finance or business-partnering experience, ideally in a high-growth technology or SaaS company.
Command of unit economics and critical metrics — you can build them, explain them, spot opportunities and threats early, and use them to change a decision.
Strong commercial acumen, and ability to cut through the noise and tell compelling stories.
Excellent financial modelling skills and the ability to build regional P&Ls and new-market analysis from the ground up.
The ability to partner commercial leaders directly — credible with sales and marketing, and able to lead with authority.
Excellent communication skills and the confidence to operate semi-autonomously in the US while staying tightly connected to the team in New Zealand.
Bonus things you could bring along to the role
Exposure to CAC, LTV, payback and other SaaS commercial metrics and their definitions.
Experience supporting a US go-to-market team or standing up finance partnering in a new region.
Familiarity with Salesforce or other similar CRMs, and NetSuite or similar ERPs, and the interaction between them.
Experience in a hardware or hardware-plus-software business.
A track record of using AI to create leverage in a finance or commercial-analytics role.
What you'll do
Partner closely with key US leaders across sales, marketing, revenue operations, commercial strategy, support & launch as the finance business partner for the US.
Own unit economics for the commercial business — the definitions, the calculations, and the story they tell.
Build and own regional P&Ls, new-market analysis and the modelling behind US and international expansion.
Give sales teams the regional budgets they need and help them manage to them, driving great CAC allocation and efficiency outcomes.
Drive the commercial narrative — package penetration, whitespace, and the analysis that shows where the growth is.
Support the Head of Commercial FP&A on the financial model and the commercial inputs to the plan.
