About Halter

At Halter, we’re on a mission to enable farmers and graziers to run the most productive and sustainable operations. Our customers are using Halter to break free from the time-intensive constraints of conventional practices. Imagine watching 500 cattle stand up and walk calmly towards their next break? No quad bikes, no dogs, no fences. Just a group of cattle walking at their own pace. People say it looks like magic. Our customers are revolutionizing grazing with Halter. It's changing lives and transforming an industry. People join Halter to do meaningful work. By joining us you’ll be solving challenging problems within a talented team and a culture built for high performance. Our team out-think, out-work and out-care. We’re committed to delivering real change in the world - this isn’t easy, and in truth, we love that it’s hard.

We’re backed to deliver on a mission that matters by Tier 1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck and Icehouse ventures.

ABOUT THE ROLE.

This isn't your standard grad role. We're not talking about a year of shadowing someone else's work or sitting in an office waiting for real responsibility. At Halter, you'll be out in the field from day one. On farms, with farmers, making a real difference in how New Zealand's South Island runs its operations.

We're hiring four graduates across the South Island right now:

  • Graduate Business Development - Canterbury

  • Graduate Business Development - Otago / Southland

  • Graduate Territory Manager - Canterbury

  • Graduate Territory Manager - Otago / Southland

These roles sit at the sharp end of Halter's growth in the South Island. Whether you go down the Business Development (BD) path or the Territory Management (TM) path, you'll be Halter's face on the ground - building relationships with farmers, solving real problems, and driving the adoption of technology that is genuinely changing agriculture.

*One more thing - we take cover letters seriously. Tell us why Halter, why this role, and why you. Applications without a cover letter won't be considered.

Not sure which path is right for you? Here's the difference:

Business Development (Dairy) is for those with a hunter's mentality. You'll own the end-to-end sales cycle - identifying prospects, building your pipeline, running on-farm demos, and closing deals. You'll be the reason a dairy farmer decides to change the way they've grazed for generations. It's fast-paced, target-driven, and deeply rewarding for those who thrive on earning trust and winning.

Territory Management (Beef) is for those who want to own a region and build something from the ground up. You'll be responsible for selling Halter to beef farmers across your territory - running the full sales cycle while also going deep with existing customers to drive retention, expand usage, and become a trusted advisor in their business. If you want the best of both worlds - closing new business and building lasting relationships - this is your path.

Both paths require the same DNA: drive, resilience, a genuine passion for farming, and the ambition to grow fast.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR.

We care about attitude and potential more than we care about your GPA. Here's what matters to us:

  • You've recently graduated (or are about to) - agriculture, business, science, or any degree that's taught you how to think and work hard.

  • You have a genuine connection to farming - you've grown up on a farm, studied it, worked in it, or are deeply passionate about it.

  • You're competitive. You set goals and you don't stop until you've hit them.

  • You're the type of person who runs towards a challenge, not away from it.

  • You're resilient. Things won't always go your way. You'll learn fast, adapt, and come back stronger.

  • You can build trust quickly with people from all walks of life - particularly farmers who've heard every pitch before.

  • You're hungry to grow. Not just in your role, but as a person. You want to be better in six months than you are today.

  • You hold a full New Zealand driver's licence and are willing to travel regularly across your region.

We don't expect you to have all the answers. We expect you to be the kind of person who works relentlessly to find them.

WHAT YOUR DAY COULD LOOK LIKE.

If you're in a BD (Dairy) role:

  • Driving across Canterbury, Otago or Southland to meet with dairy farmers - understanding their operations, their challenges, and how Halter can transform their business.

  • Prospecting: building your pipeline from scratch, qualifying leads, and managing the full sales cycle from first conversation to signed contract.

  • Running on-farm demonstrations that turn sceptics into believers.

  • Networking at field days, rural events, and within farming communities to build Halter's brand.

  • Forecasting your pipeline with your Regional Sales Manager and working to continuously sharpen your sales process.

If you're in a TM (Beef) role:

  • Driving across your territory to meet with beef farmers - prospecting new operations, running on-farm demos, and closing deals with a customer base that's earlier in the Halter journey.

  • Owning the full sales cycle for beef in your region, from initial conversations through to signed contracts.

  • Visiting existing customer farms regularly - checking in on performance, animal outcomes, and how farmers are getting value from the platform, then identifying opportunities to expand Halter usage across their operation.

  • Acting as the voice of your customers back into Halter's product and support teams - your field insights directly shape how we build.

  • Working closely with your BD counterparts to share learnings and ensure a seamless experience for farmers across both dairy and beef.

Regardless of your path, you'll spend a lot of time outdoors, on farms, with your sleeves rolled up. That's exactly how we like it.

GROWTH AT HALTER.

This programme is designed to launch careers, not just fill roles. Halter is scaling fast, and we promote from within. The graduates we hire today are the Regional Sales Managers, Customer Success Leaders, and commercial team leads of tomorrow.

You'll have access to world-class sales training, a $1,000 personal growth fund, and mentorship from some of the most talented people in New Zealand's agri-tech sector. We move quickly, and if you perform, you'll be given more responsibility faster than anywhere else you'll find.

The South Island is one of the most important and exciting regions in Halter's growth story. The farms are bigger, the operations are complex, and the impact of what we're doing is enormous. Getting in now, at this stage of the journey, is a genuine opportunity.
