At Halter, we’re on a mission to enable farmers and graziers to run the most productive and sustainable operations. Our customers are using Halter to break free from the time-intensive constraints of conventional practices. Imagine watching 500 cattle stand up and walk calmly towards their next break? It's changing lives and transforming an industry. People join Halter to do meaningful work. By joining us you’ll be solving challenging problems within a talented team and a culture built for high performance. Our team out-think, out-work and out-care. About the role
We're looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to own and improve Halter's workplace IT environment. You'll work across a modern, predominantly SaaS-based stack — managing identity, endpoints, and tooling — while driving automation, reducing operational overhead, and contributing to IT projects that have real business impact. This is a hands-on role in a small, high-trust team where you'll have the autonomy to shape how things are done.
What you'll work on
SaaS & identity management: Own and optimise Okta and identity workflows, manage SaaS procurement and licensing, and drive vendor cost optimisation — including renegotiating or consolidating accounts.
Device management (MDM): Take ownership of endpoint management across the fleet, ensuring consistency, security, and a great out-of-box experience for new hires
Automation & efficiency: Design and implement automations that reduce manual work, improve consistency, and lower ongoing support load across IT operations
IT project ownership: Lead internal IT projects end-to-end — from scoping and planning through to rollout and adoption
Security collaboration: Work closely with the Security team to implement practical, risk-based controls that strengthen our security posture without slowing people down
Escalation & support: Serve as the point of escalation for complex or recurring issues across endpoints, access, networking, conferencing, and internal tooling
Onboarding & offboarding: Contribute to a seamless employee lifecycle experience, with a focus on fixing root causes over time
Office & hybrid environments: Ensure meeting rooms, offices, and hybrid setups are reliable and fit for a globally distributed team
What you'll bring
Strong experience with SaaS-first IT environments — you understand how to manage, secure, and optimise a modern toolstack without heavy on-premise infrastructure
Hands-on expertise with MDM platforms (e.g. Jamf, Intune) and identity providers, particularly Okta
A builder mindset — you automate where you can, document what matters, and fix problems at the root
Solid vendor management skills, including experience negotiating contracts and driving cost efficiency
Experience collaborating with security teams to implement controls that are effective without creating friction
Strong communication skills — you can translate technical decisions into plain language for non-technical stakeholders
The ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects in a fast-moving environment
