About Halter
At Halter, we’re on a mission to enable farmers and graziers to run the most productive and sustainable operations. Our customers are using Halter to break free from the time-intensive constraints of conventional practices. Imagine watching 500 cattle stand up and walk calmly towards their next break? No quad bikes, no dogs, no fences. Just a group of cattle walking at their own pace. People say it looks like magic. Our customers are revolutionizing grazing with Halter. It's changing lives and transforming an industry. People join Halter to do meaningful work. By joining us you’ll be solving challenging problems within a talented team and a culture built for high performance. Our team out-think, out-work and out-care. We’re committed to delivering real change in the world - this isn’t easy, and in truth, we love that it’s hard.
We’re backed to deliver on a mission that matters by Tier 1 investors including Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck and Icehouse ventures.

About this role
This is a unique and rare opportunity in a fast-scaling company with bold ambitions and significant growth ahead. As Halter expands globally across NZ, Australia, and the US, the complexity of our people systems grows with us - across hiring, onboarding, performance, compensation, reporting, compliance, and global expansion.
To be clear, this is not your traditional People role. We’re building a people function that is deeply human, and rigorously data-driven.
As our Product Lead - People Ecosystem, you will build the internal products that power our people function and underpin our people more broadly. Think of this as building the Salesforce for our workforce - a connected, automated, insight-rich ecosystem that gives us a 360° view of our people and enables confident, meaningful, and fair decision-making at scale.
You’ll apply product thinking, systems architecture, and operational rigour to unlock a seamless, efficient employee lifecycle - from joiner to mover to leaver. You’ll work closely with People, Finance, and IT to deliver a high-functioning ecosystem that reduces friction, drives clarity, and unlocks performance.
You are the product owner of Halter’s people infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
-
Build a world-class people ecosystem
Own the vision, roadmap, and architecture for Halter’s people systems
Build a connected, scalable ecosystem across ATS, HRIS, performance, engagement, and people reporting tools
Create a trusted 360° view of our workforce, enabling real-time insight and decision-making
Roll out thoughtful, high-impact AI applications across our people ecosystem
-
Design and automate scalable employee lifecycle workflows
Reduce friction and manual work through smart systems and automation
Simplify processes, clarify ownership, and improve cross-team workflows
-
Cross-Functional Data & Systems Integration
Partner with People & Performance, Finance, and IT to design integrated workflows and data flows
Drive clean system integration and proactively manage downstream impacts
Build reliable reporting infrastructure for planning, performance insights, and leadership decision-making
Establish people data as an accurate, auditable source of truth
-
Adoption & Change
Treat internal teams as product users and design for engagement
-
Lead communication, documentation, and enablement to drive adoption
We’re looking for someone who
Proven experience standing up mission-critical internal systems (e.g. CRM, martech stack, finance systems, operations platforms)
Proven experience integrating multiple systems into one coherent ecosystem
Exceptional at driving efficiency and operational leverage
Product mindset - defines problems, prioritises impact, and drives outcomes through execution and alignment
Starts with the human problem, not the system.
Is a simplifier - known for untangling complexity, and you get more excited about removing a step than adding one
Works from first principles rather than defaulting to “best practice”
Brings a structured, detail-oriented approach, while staying pragmatic and outcomes-focused
Communicates clearly and drives stakeholder alignment across functions
Gets energy from building foundational infrastructure that unlocks efficiency and scale
People experience is great - but it is not required. Systems thinking, product ownership, and operational design are.
