Join the Tilt team

At Tilt (formerly Empower), we see a side of people that traditional lenders miss. Our mobile-first products and machine learning-powered credit models look beyond outdated credit scores, using over 250 real-time financial signals to recognize real potential. Named among the next billion-dollar startups, we're not just changing how people access financial products — we're creating a new credit system that backs the working, whatever they're working toward.

The opportunity: Finance Systems & Automation Analyst

Tilt is hiring for a Finance Systems & Automation Analyst to help modernize the way we manage and use financial data. This role is ideal for someone who understands accounting but prefers to build the tools and systems that make finance faster, more accurate, and easier to scale. You’ll work closely with our BI and Accounting teams to transition manual workflows into automated, reliable, and auditable processes using SQL, Python, and modern reporting tools. Your work will improve how we close the books, track performance, and deliver insights across the business. This role is ideal for someone who likes building systems, solving process challenges with code, and turning messy data into something finance teams can actually use. You will report directly to our Controller.

Tilt is a remote-first company that fosters connectivity through regular offsites. Travel for company offsites is required at least twice per year.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Build and automate core accounting workflows like variance analysis, reconciliations, and close reporting

  • Partner with BI to structure financial data models and pipelines

  • Translate accounting and reporting needs into SQL- or Python-based tools

  • Aggregate and clean data from ERP and subledger systems for reporting and analysis

  • Create dashboards and tools that make financial data easier to access and act on

  • Support audits by improving traceability and documentation of financial processes

  • Help manage finance systems such as NetSuite, Aleph, and AP automation tools

  • Improve internal controls and support better decision-making by reducing manual work

Why you’re a great fit

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field

  • 3-5 years of experience in a finance, accounting, or data-focused role

  • Strong SQL skills; experience with Python or scripting tools is a plus

  • Comfortable working in Excel, but interested in building solutions that go beyond it

  • Familiarity with ERP systems like NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP

  • Able to work independently and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical teams

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Preferred but not required: experience with BI tools like Tableau, Looker, or Power BI; exposure to data transformation tools such as dbt or Alteryx; familiarity with accounting principles and financial reporting logic; CPA or currently pursuing CPA

Our interview process

  1. Initial Recruiter Call: A conversation to learn about your experience and what you're looking for in your next role.

  2. Hiring Manager Interview: A deeper discussion about your background and the Finance Systems & Automation Analyst role

  3. SQL Interview: An interview with a member of our BI team to assess your SQL knowledge

  4. Skills Panel: Meet with Tilt team members to discuss your expertise and approach to problem-solving.

  5. Leadership Conversation: Final conversation with our CFO to discuss our mission and how you could contribute to it (and how we can help you achieve your career goals along the way).

Don’t meet every qualification? We care about potential over your past. If you're bringing ambition and drive to what we're building, we want to hear from you.
