Dovetail is a rapidly growing global company on a mission to improve the quality of every thing. Our AI-native customer intelligence platform helps thousands of teams from Fortune 500 companies to innovative startups to bring together customer insights from across their organization.

We capture every sales call, survey, report, interview, support ticket, renewal call, usability test, and app review, and transform that raw data into actionable insights your product team can leverage. By helping our customers truly understand their users, we empower them to build better products, services, and experiences.

We’re seeking ambitious problem solvers from diverse backgrounds who are valued for their experience, passionate about their craft, and excited about the work we’re undertaking.

We're looking for an Internal IT Engineer to join our engineering and platform team and manage our internal systems, network, software & hardware, including IT support for our employees, network troubleshooting, and AV support. We’re all about sweating the details on delightful experiences, tackling ambitious technical challenges, and delivering value, so there's a huge opportunity for growth and impact.

What you’ll do

  • Manage Dovetail’s internal software and systems. You’ll be responsible for managing Dovetail’s internal technology, including setting up SAML for new vendors (e.g. configure vendor systems to require SSO), MDM management (Kandji experience is a plus), and onboarding new systems and tools.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose internal technical issues. You’ll investigate and track down the root cause for our internal network, operating system, and hardware issues.

  • Fleet and AV management. You’ll look after our office meeting rooms such as iPads and AV equipment, and our employee and office hardware, such as laptops and printers. You’ll create and manage the relationship with vendors to purchase office hardware.

  • Collaborate across functions. You’ll be responsible for connecting with and supporting multiple functions and locations across our Sydney & San Francisco offices (e.g. managing the multi-site WAN connections) and work cross-functionally with the security team. You’ll also be responsible for working as part of project teams to shape the technology infrastructure in future offices, both in Sydney and abroad.

  • Review IT operations & tools. You’ll have an eye on cost-benefit analysis, efficiency improvements, and opportunities for more effective collaboration to constantly improve our IT operations, including advocating for new tools or systems based on the business needs. You’ll also be responsible for maintaining an inventory of current tooling / systems, business purpose and employee usage to identify opportunities for consolidation. On an ad-hoc basis, you will advise the business on topics such as ideal contract lengths and user volumes when negotiating with vendors.

Your background

  • Experience in IT & fleet management. You’ve been responsible for managing IT systems and networks for a growing multi-site company of 50 people or more.

  • Networking & Mac OS experience. You understand IT networks (experience with Ubiquiti or an equivalent tool is a plus), and you have experience with Mac operating systems.

  • When you do it, you nail it. You share our keen eye for quality. You don't half-ass your work, instead, you spend time understanding the business needs and troubleshooting issues to develop the best solution for Dovetail.

  • Excellent, concise communicator. You can easily convey your thoughts, opinions, and feelings with the team and have the ability to articulate necessary trade-offs.

  • You’re a natural problem-solver. You thrive on untangling complex technical issues, communicating clearly with non-technical teammates, and turning friction into smooth, reliable experiences for everyone across the business.

  • You are pragmatic and flexible. You can wear multiple hats across the IT operations lifecycle and be comfortable with ambiguity that naturally comes with working at an early-stage startup.

  • A great attitude to support others. A willingness to help other people, with an open attitude, will be essential to your success.

At Dovetail, we’re passionate about building and fostering an environment where every team member feels supported and valued. We celebrate individualism, welcoming everyone to show up as their authentic selves every day. It’s no secret that diversity builds the best teams, large or small, so we highly encourage applications from people who identify as part of an under-represented group.
