Atticus is hiring an IT Specialist to own and mature our internal IT operations as we scale. You’ll work closely with and report to the Information Security Manager, supporting day-to-day IT operations while helping improve the systems, processes, and tooling we rely on across endpoint device lifecycle management, identity and access, SaaS administration, and our broader cloud-first IT environment.

About us
Atticus is a Melbourne-based scale-up founded in 2017, which offers the leading technology in document fact-checking. We are on a mission to ensure every critical document is accurate and defensible. Our software helps our customers (law firms, listed companies, and funds) fact-check critical documents before they are disclosed to market. Our users love Atticus because we save them a lot of pain in high stakes work.

We are a small, highly efficient team that relies on well-run internal systems to stay productive. As we grow, we are committed to preserving that speed while maintaining the security, reliability, and trust our customers expect. That means giving our people simple, dependable tools and support, while ensuring our devices, access, and SaaS systems are managed in a secure and scalable way.

About the role
As our IT Specialist, you will keep Atticus’s internal IT operations running smoothly while helping us build a more scalable, secure, and reliable technology environment. You’ll act as a first point of contact with users, manage devices and access, improve integrations between platforms, and ensure our internal tools are reliable, secure, and easy to use.

As a small and highly efficient company, this is a broad role suited to someone comfortable operating across multiple areas of IT. You’ll need to take initiative, solve ambiguous or unfamiliar problems, follow through reliably, and balance responsive support with longer-term improvement work. From time to time, the role may involve after-hours support for our UK team, particularly for onboarding, offboarding, or urgent support needs. You will also be accountable for driving the pace of projects that strengthen how we manage identity, devices, applications, data, and access.

You’ll be working across a range of responsibilities that support the smooth running and ongoing improvement of our internal IT operations:

  • Internal IT support: Providing end-to-end technical support across user devices, applications, account access, and collaboration tools, helping staff resolve issues quickly with minimal disruption to their work.
  • Endpoint lifecycle management: Managing the full lifecycle of endpoint devices — primarily that our Apple fleet is consistently enrolled, configured, patched, and compliant, with a repeatable and well-documented lifecycle process from procurement through to retirement.
  • Apple device management & automation: Writing and maintaining scripts to support macOS administration, MDM workflows, app deployment, and compliance checks, improving consistency and scalability as we grow.
  • Identity & access management: Managing accounts, permissions, and access changes are managed accurately and promptly, onboarding and offboarding workflows are automated, and our IAM practices mature in line with the needs of the business.
  • SaaS & business systems administration: Managing and optimising core SaaS platforms to keep them reliable, secure, and well-integrated, while improving visibility and governance across the application stack.
  • Process improvement & automation: Identifying, prioritising, and improving manual IT processes to create faster workflows, reduce errors, and support a more scalable IT operation.
  • Security-aligned operations: Partnering with the Information Security Manager to ensure IT operations support broader security objectives across devices, users, applications, and access.
  • Documentation: Developing and maintaining technical documentation, runbooks, and user guides for end users, IT/security stakeholders, and future team members.

About you
We’re looking for a capable and proactive IT professional with 3+ years of experience in IT, systems administration, endpoint management, IT operations, or a similar role. You enjoy helping people solve practical technology problems, but also care about improving the systems, processes, and automation that reduce friction over time. You have a strong sense of ownership, are comfortable working independently in a broad role, and are looking for an opportunity to take greater ownership of a modern, cloud-first internal IT environment.

You have hands-on experience managing user devices, access, SaaS platforms, and identity-related tooling, and are comfortable balancing responsive support with longer-term improvement work. You do not need to have worked with every tool we use, but you should be practical, curious, technically confident, and willing to learn unfamiliar systems when needed.

So if you’ve got the following skills and capabilities then please get in touch:

  • Internal IT & user support: Experience providing end-to-end technical support across hardware, software, accounts, collaboration tools, and internal systems, including troubleshooting, escalations, and Apple device support.
  • Endpoint & device management: Solid understanding of endpoint management in macOS and Apple environments, including MDM, device enrolment, configuration, app deployment, patching, compliance, and the full device lifecycle.
  • Apple administration & scripting: Strong working knowledge of macOS administration with the ability to write or maintain scripts for Apple/Unix environments to support MDM workflows, app deployment, reporting, and repeatable IT operations.
  • Identity & access management: Experience managing identities, accounts, permissions, and lifecycle processes across business systems, with an understanding of identity providers, MFA, SSO, SCIM, and centralised access management.
  • SaaS & business systems administration: Experience managing and optimising SaaS platforms, including user access, configuration, integrations, and documentation, with an interest in reducing complexity and unmanaged technology sprawl.
  • Security-aligned IT operations: Familiarity with security controls relevant to IT operations — device compliance, endpoint protection, identity governance, data protection, and application visibility — without needing to be a security specialist.
  • Systems integration & process improvement: Experience reviewing workflows, identifying inefficiencies, and delivering practical improvements that connect systems, reduce manual effort, and make operations more scalable.
  • Documentation & technical communication: Able to produce clear documentation, procedures, and user guidance, adapting communication style for technical and non-technical audiences alike.
  • Security & compliance awareness: Familiarity with security frameworks and how organisations implement security controls, with comfort working in environments where IT supports security, auditability, and customer trust.
  • Qualifications & certifications: Relevant IT qualifications or equivalent experience are valued. Useful certifications include SC-300, Apple device management training, Okta Certified Administrator, Google Workspace Administrator, Jamf 100/200/300, CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+/Linux+, LFCS, or RHCSA, though none are required.

Benefits
  • $95,000 to $130,000 plus super, commensurate with skills and experience.
  • Remote-friendly within Australia, with occasional Melbourne office attendance required for endpoint lifecycle tasks such as hardware-related work.
  • Five weeks leave each year (and never work on your birthday)
  • 16 weeks paid parental leave
  • Dog-friendly office in Collingwood, Melbourne
  • Generous professional development program
